A useful HNB sample is more than a flavour chosen from a list. It is the first physical answer to a set of market, device and production questions. A clear brief lets material, flavour and engineering decisions move together instead of being corrected one by one later.
Define the market and product brief
Start with the destination market, intended sales channel, target consumer and lawful product category. Confirm whether the project is tobacco HNB, nicotine-containing herbal HNB or zero-nicotine herbal HNB.
Volume expectations, packaging format, capsule requirements and launch timing should be stated early. They affect material selection, pilot quantities and the documentation route.
Map the product architecture and IP boundary
The stick structure must be matched to the intended heating method. Blade, pin, circumferential, air and induction systems place different demands on the substrate, susceptor and airflow path.
For an electromagnetic project, project-specific FTO review should be completed before tooling or mass production. A sample is useful only when its technical route can support the commercial plan.
Validate flavour and device fit with samples
The first sample round should compare a small number of clear directions rather than an uncontrolled list of variants. Record aroma intensity, sweetness, cooling, capsule effect, draw resistance, heating recognition and visible quality.
Test the same sample in the intended device setup where possible. Device fit, stick dimensions and operator technique can change the result more than a small flavour adjustment.
What to prepare before contacting the team
Prepare a concise brief covering company background, destination market, product category, preferred flavour direction, expected annual volume, device interface and required launch date. Product references may help, but confidential third-party material should not be sent at the first contact stage.
Use the project form to share the brief. The first output should be a defined sample scope and a list of decisions required before the next round.
